Get on up, when you’re down…
As the phenomenal boyband, 5ive, once sang we must get on up and keep on moving our bodies. Although we bet, they probably didn’t mean it to be while working through the UK Covid-19 lockdown!
To help the Braintree Village community maintain our mental and physical health, we’ve pulled together 8 programs that will inspire you to move and hopefully, also be activities that the whole family can enjoy.
1. Nike Training Club App and Youtube Channel
The Nike Training Club App is packed full of free workouts that can be done at home, including mood boosting yoga, HIIT sessions and anti-desk exercises for those who have been working from home and sitting down for longer periods of time.

2. PE with Joe Wicks
If you haven’t heard of this programme by now, where have you been?
A free 30-minute workout, aimed specifically at the kids who will be missing their PE sessions at school, hosted live at 9am each morning on Joe’s YouTube channel.
With no equipment required, it’s a real easy way to start the day and help the kids into a routine away from the usual school day. Celebrities have also been showing support, local celeb Stacey Solomon is a big fan, filming her family taking part and sharing with her Instagram followers.
3. Digme Fitness
Fitness studio group Digme, has introduced Digme at Home, broadcasting classes usually reserved for their members, free on their Instagram - Live! Allowing everyone the opportunity to choose whether to get the heart rate pumping with HIIT, or perhaps slowing it down with chilled yoga, either way Digme has it covered.
Everyday Digme release their schedule with classes available before work, during lunch and post work. Perfect for those working from home to take a break or begin their morning with an energy boost!
4. Seen on Screen
Seen on Screen, a dance studio with the USP of offering novice and advanced dancers the chance to learn routines inspired by Queens of the stage (Beyonce, Rihanna, and Britney Spears to name a few), has ventured online during the lockdown.
Providing followers with the opportunity to learn the routines at home by following live-streamed tutorials over on its School of SOS Instagram and on video chat platform Zoom.
Have you always been afraid to attend a dance class? Well now you can take part in the comfort of your own home with only yourself to see just how sassy you can get!
5. Body Control Pilates for Children
Another one for those with little ones to entertain and keep active at home.
Body Control Pilates have made their two Pilates for Children classes free to view over the coming weeks.
The Body Control Pilates team hope to add the live classes for Children on Zoom very soon too.

6. Love to Swim?
With all swimming centres closed during the UK lockdown, those who love to swim may feel a little lost.
We found a brilliant article over on Outdoor Swimmer that details exercises which will keep your swimmers body fit and ready to return to the water.
From a simple plank, to the Pilates swimmer pose, take a look here to find out more. Wearing a swimming costume while performing the exercises is up to you!
7. Explore with The North Face
Over on their Instagram page, The North Face are hosting daily live Q+A sessions with outdoor explorer pioneers on their tips for remaining indoors and maintaining activity levels.
Additionally, the brand are living their #NeverStopExploring philosophy and have opened their jampacked video archive to allow everyone to explore their outdoor curiosity while staying in.
8. ASICS Studio
An app with unlimited access to audio circuit workouts in strength training and cardio—all led by personal trainers, backed by motivating music and guaranteed to make you sweat.
Choose workouts targeting specific muscle groups, perhaps you want to challenge that upper body or maybe focus on the glutes, take your pick!
Of course, with an app, it means it’s easy to use anywhere - all you need to get started is your phone, a way to listen and a little motivation. You’ll be on your way to unlocking fitness achievements in no time.
